Wedding: Yolanda and Kevin – Long Island Wedding Photographer

Cover

This past Friday I had the honor of photographing the wedding of one of the cutest young couples I’ve ever come across. Yolanda and Kevin are longtime high school sweethearts turned Husband & Wife. It was a long, hectic day and a trying day for all involved. There was a little bit of everything: Limousine problems, wedding rings that almost didn’t make it to the church, and the bright sun bearing down on us all. Somehow Yolanda and Kevin managed to keep their cool on what turned out to be one of the hottest days we’ve had this year.

If the way they handled their wedding day is any indication of how they’ll handle the ups and downs of marriage, there’s no doubt in my mind that this young couple will be able to handle anything life throws their way. Good luck guys! (not that you’ll need it)

Spending your special day with you made it special for me as well.

I would also like to give props to the vendors who made a great day even better. Denise, Jacqueline, and the folks over at Salon Luna were extremely gracious and very accomodating when I stopped by the salon for some of the “getting ready” images. If I had the slightest bit of hair, that’s where I’d be getting it done. Ciara at All Dolled Up is a fantastic make-up artist and she did an equally amazing job with Yolanda’s makeup. It was 90* out, but 5 hours later her makeup looked just as fresh as when she first put it on. You guys made a beautiful bride even more beautiful!

Alan first I would like to thank you for all your patience and hardwork. Second I would like to commend you on a wonderful job.The pictures are absolutely amazing. Words can not describe the beauty and essence of the pictures that you and your assistant took. Even the comment you wrote about the wonderful couple was delightful. It is true that a picture can say a thousand words and your pictures shows how in Love this couple truly is.I would recommend you to anyone (I am actually recommending you to a friend of mine that is getting married in November)

I would like to say that your pictures truly did come out beautiful. I feel that the introduction was really touching and that you did a wonderful job.

Hey Alan & Silke.
Thank you so much for making my day such a wonderful experience!! Through all the chaos and bad service you managed to keep Kevin, myself, and my entire family upbeat and smiling. I would not have been able to keep my cool if it were not for you and Silke. You were amazing both professionally and as friends; Friends is what we’ll be always! You have exceeded my expectations with your work. Thanks again for a job EXCELLENTLY DONE!!

[…] We’re always proud when our images are published. This wedding article on the Hamptons.com website was written by my friend Claudia Copquin. Claudia contacted me a while back for some Long Island wedding images to accompany her article. The images used here are a couples portrait  from Gerri & Max’s wedding as well as a walking down the aisle shot from Yolanda and Kevin’s wedding. […]

Becca Being Becca – Long Island Photographer

So Rebecca is getting ready for college…..a big step step in a girls life. It’s also a big step in any parent’s life, sending their child off into the cold, cruel world. This is a time when all parents have concerns about their child’s future.

My main concern? Packing for school? Nope.

Making sure she has everything she needs to survive in the world. Nope.

College loans and tuition bills? Nope.

You know what I’m concerned about. My main concern is squeezing this last month of photos out of her before we ship her off to school. Who says I don’t have my priorities in order?

You see, Becca is my favorite model.

Not because she sits there patiently while I snap away…..she doesn’t.

Not because she jumps at the chance to get her picture taken at the mere mention of it….she doesn’t do that either.

It’s because I love taking pictures of her.

When she cooperates (which isn’t very often), she is a wonderful model. Very pretty and extremely photogenic. (she’s gonna kill me when she sees this).

Anyway, we’re outside the other day. I’m practicing for an upcoming photo session by playing around with some off-camera lighting. I set everything up and point the camera at her. She turns away.

I wait. (we play this game ALL the time)

Finally, she gives up and lets me snap a few shots. Nothing special.

She looks away and I pounce! That’s when it happens…..and that’s why she’s my favorite model.

Senior Portraits: Becca – Long Island Portrait Photographer

Senior photo sessions are the rage these days, becoming increasingly popular among today’s teens. As they begin to develop their own identities and begin their transition into adulthood,  these teens have a strong desire to express their individuality. One of the ways they do this is through photos.

Rebecca is no different.

This session began as a walk through the town of Bay Shore, New York. It wasn’t a planned shoot, but I happened to have my camera with me (as I always do) and decided to snap a few pics. She wasn’t really dressed for a special shoot and the bright overhead sun made for less than ideal shooting conditions. Even so, having a beautiful and extremely photogenic subject can make up for shooting in even the worst of conditions.

If you’re wondering why I’m gushing over the beauty of an 18 year old, it’s because Becca is my daughter and I can gush over her anytime I want!   The fact that she now has her driver’s license (and the keys to the car) means these opportunities are becoming harder and harder to come by. I figured I’d better take advantage of the opportunity while it was there.
