I was thrilled to death when I found out Diane and Linda were getting married. Not only is Diane is one of my very best friends, she’s also an amazing wedding photographer (you can see her work on her Hudson River Photographer website). We’ve shot quite a few weddings together and I usually spend the night up in Rhinebeck when we do. In that time I’ve also gotten to know Linda very well and they are among my closest friends.
Now, I never take my camera to a wedding. I won’t even take my cell phone out at weddings. When I’m a guest at a wedding, I like being just that, a guest….a dancing, drinking, eating, partying guest….but this was different. They were just having a small gathering of friends and didn’t hire a photographer. Well, there was no way I was going to let my two good friends get married (something they’ve waited a very long time to do) without having any photos from their wedding day. Nope, not happening. I told Diane that I was bringing my camera to snap a ‘few’ photos. She grudgingly agreed but I was under strict orders to have fun because she didn’t want me working. Work? I couldn’t imagine having more fun than photographing one of my very best friend’s wedding.
And yes, I found plenty of time to dance, drink, and eat.
